How to Make Your Next HOA Meeting More Effective
Meetings serve an important purpose for homeowner associations. They’re vital for sharing information from board members, gaining consensus from members of the community and so much more. Unfortunately, ineffective meetings are a major problem for many HOAs.
If you’re having trouble getting members of the community to attend meetings or if you can tell that those who are in attendance would rather be just about anywhere else, here are a few tips on How to Make Your Next HOA Meeting More Effective
Engage Community Members
Listen to members of your HOA, and find out what topics they would like to see covered during the meeting. People automatically feel more engaged and are more likely to show up if they feel like what they have to say will be taken into consideration.
Bring in Diverse Speakers
Add additional value to your meetings by bringing in diverse speakers. For example, if you have a community member who works for a security company, you could ask them to share a few tips to help members of the community properly secure their homes. Having a variety of people preventing – especially speakers from within the community – makes meetings more interesting.
Offer an Incentive
Everyone loves being a winner. Offering a small incentive, such as a giveaway at the end of the meeting, is an inexpensive way to encourage more people to attend and stay until the end of the meeting. Something as simple as a $25 Visa gift card is a great way to go.
People won’t attend meetings if they don’t know when they’re happening. Give yourself plenty of time to promote the event so members of the community can plan to attend. Post flyers, send out emails, post on social media and put a reminder in your community newsletter.
Effective HOA meetings are important for associations of all sizes. If your board struggles to hold productive meetings, you may want to consider hiring an HOA manager to take care of this essential task. At AMI, we can help. Contact us today to learn more.Tweet
